“Narawntapu” – A Peaceful Off-Grid Oasis

This idyllic timber constructed bush retreat oozes character and charm. With stunning valley and bush surrounds the retreat sits on approx. 40 acres (16.38ha) of semi cleared land blending a mix of lush valley floor rising to majestic mountain side land.

The retreat has 2 bedrooms downstairs and one upstairs. An open plan living & dining space adjoining a country style kitchen is spacious and features a slow combustion fireplace. A bathroom with shower, vanity and composting toilet is positioned off one of the downstairs bedrooms and opens onto the large undercover deck. The timber deck is a highlight of the retreat and takes full advantage of the tranquil bushland and gorgeous natural surrounds.

A stone paved fire pit area is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy a fire in the Winter months. A 'summer house' is located by the creek line and makes another great outdoor/indoor living space.

Great walking trails lead up to the northern ridge that takes you up to the Boree Track or along the valley floor into the National Park. Another track on the southern ridge takes you to lots of caves and a cascading waterfall during wet weather.

The property is totally off the grid with solar power & tank water. A landline phone is also connected.

Located within approx. a 15-min drive to the Laguna Wine Bar/Great Northern Trading Post you’re not too far away from the vibrant country village atmosphere. Historic Wollombi Village is also close by approx. 20mins drive from the property. Hunter Valley vineyards and awarded restaurant are within approx. 45mins drive. The property would make the perfect weekend retreat being approx. 80mins drive to the M1 Wahroonga Interchange Sydney.

The property is named after Narawntapu National Park on the North coast of Tasmania where wombats rule. As the name suggests Wombats are abundant in this valley as well as wallabies and prolific bird life. The extensive wildlife also includes koalas, microbats and many lizard species including a resident lace monitor. A birdwatcher’s paradise with black cockatoos, king parrots, rosellas, wedge tailed eagles, owls, wrens, dollar birds, honey eaters, wattle birds and galahs!

The diverse native flora includes rock orchids, grey gums, iron bark and swamp tea tree as well as an abundant fruit orchard with stone fruit, apples, mulberry, citrus, quince and olive trees including a heritage variety from St Helena Island that dates back to the 1800s.

The current owners have also planted native red cedar trees that could provide future income as a rare and highly valued timber used to make furniture and musical instruments. There is plenty of scope to plant other trees for future income. A Wollemi Pine has also been planted and is thriving in the lush valley.

Please note the retreat is not a council approved dwelling although the property itself holds a dwelling entitlement so you could build a house in the future (subject to council DA approval). There have been two sets of house plans for the property previously, one of which was approved (but is now expired).
